Tee Bets — Privacy Policy

Tee Bets is a golf side-game tracker and settlement calculator. It records friendly game results and calculates who owes whom — it never holds, moves, or processes money. We designed it to keep your data on your own devices and in your own iCloud. This policy explains exactly what that means.

The short version

• We have no servers and no backend of our own. The app runs on Apple's CloudKit using your iCloud account.
• We don't track you. No advertising, no analytics SDKs, no data brokers, no third-party trackers.
• Your rounds, scores, and profile live in your private iCloud, which the developer cannot read.
• When you choose to share a round or cup, the people you invite (via a link or QR code) can see that round's player names, scores, handicaps, and settlement — so share it only with your playing group.
• The only data published publicly is optional community course information (course name, location, pars, and stroke indexes) — never your scores, bets, or personal details.

What the app stores, and where

1. Your account (Sign in with Apple). When you sign in, Apple provides your name and an email address (which may be a private Apple relay address) plus a stable user identifier. Your profile also stores the Handicap Index you enter. These are stored in your private iCloud database and used only to set up your profile and sync it across your own devices. We, the developer, cannot access your private iCloud database.

2. Your golf data. Rounds, players, scores, settlements, your roster, and Ryder Cup tournaments are stored in your private iCloud database and synced across your devices.

Sharing a round or cup. When you share a round or Ryder Cup, the app creates an Apple CloudKit share link (and a QR code) using your iCloud. Anyone you give that link to can open the round and see the player names, hole-by-hole scores, Handicap Indexes, games, and the running settlement — and can take a turn keeping score. The share is hosted on Apple's CloudKit, not on any server we operate, and we cannot read it. Share the link only with the people in your group, and stop sharing from the app when you're done.

3. The community course catalog (optional). If you choose "Save & share this course," the app publishes course data only — course name, tee, locality, geographic location, slope/rating, hole count, pars, and stroke indexes — to a shared public CloudKit catalog so other golfers can find that course. This catalog contains no scores, no bets, and no personal information. You can use the app fully without ever publishing a course.

Device permissions

• Camera & photo library — used only to capture or pick a scorecard image so the app can read its pars and stroke indexes on your device. Scorecard images are processed locally and are not uploaded to us.
• Location — used only on your device to help find nearby golf courses while you search. Your location is not stored and never leaves your device.

What we do not do

• We do not sell or share your personal data.
• We do not use third-party advertising or analytics.
• We do not track you across apps or websites; the app shows no App Tracking Transparency prompt because there is nothing to track.
• We do not process payments or facilitate real-money gambling. Players settle up among themselves, outside the app.

Data retention and deletion

Your golf data persists in your iCloud until you delete it. You can:

• Delete individual rounds, cups, courses, or roster players inside the app.
• Sign out or switch Apple ID from the profile screen.
• Remove all app data by deleting the app and, if desired, clearing its data in iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Tee Bets.

Because the community catalog stores only non-personal course data (no names, scores, or identifiers), there is no personal account to delete from it; to remove a specific course you contributed, contact us at the email below.

Children's privacy

Tee Bets is a general-audience app (rated 4+) and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at the email below and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, we will update the effective date above and post the revised policy at the same URL.
